South West Georgia Homecare has launched the Albany & Southwest Georgia Family Care Resource Center, a free public library of caregiving information for families, seniors, and the healthcare professionals who support them.
The Resource Center was built around a simple observation: families making care decisions often have very little time and very little guidance. The new library brings practical information together in one place - how families pay for home care, what to prepare before a hospital discharge, how to make a home safer against falls, and how to build calmer daily routines for a person living with dementia.
What families will find
- Plain-language guides on paying for care, including private pay and questions to ask about long-term care insurance and VA benefits
- Printable hospital-to-home discharge checklists for preparing the home and the first days back
- Room-by-room home safety and fall-prevention checklists
- A directory of established local organizations families can contact directly across Albany and the surrounding counties

Why we built it
South West Georgia Homecare is a locally owned, non-medical in-home care organization based in Albany, Georgia. The organization was founded out of a family experience of caring for a brother with cerebral palsy, and of a mother who struggled to find reliable information about available resources and dependable caregivers. The Resource Center is a direct response to that gap: the information families need should be free, local, and easy to find, whether or not they ever become a client.
The Resource Center is available now and will continue to grow as new guides are written and reviewed.
