We are a locally owned, non-medical in-home care agency headquartered on Dawson Road in Albany — not a franchise call center three states away.
Our Story
A higher standard of home care for Dougherty and Lee counties
South West Georgia Homecare began at home. Our owner, Justin Atkins, grew up alongside a brother with cerebral palsy and watched his mother carry the weight of that care largely alone — with no one to tell her what help existed, which programs her son qualified for, or where to turn next.
What help she did find was often worse than none at all. Caregivers arrived late or not at all, changed week to week, and too many of them treated the work as a shift to get through rather than a family to look after. The cost of that landed on a mother who was already stretched past her limit.
So we built the agency that family needed: local coordinators who answer the phone and point families to the resources they are owed, caregivers who are screened and held to a real standard, registered-nurse oversight on every plan, and documentation families can actually see.
Today we serve seniors and recovering adults across Dougherty, Lee, Worth, Terrell, Mitchell, Calhoun, and Baker counties — and we measure ourselves on how quickly we answer, how long our caregivers stay, and how well families sleep at night.

Born in Albany with deep family roots in Southwest Georgia. Growing up with a brother with cerebral palsy — and watching his mother struggle to find reliable caregivers and clear answers about available resources — shaped the standard he holds this agency to. He brings more than a decade of health care leadership experience and is committed to delivering compassionate, dependable care.

Director of Nursing & Quality
A registered nurse with 18 years in Southwest Georgia acute and long-term care. She reviews every care plan, performs supervisory home visits, and leads caregiver competency testing.
Rhonda Ellis
Client Care Coordinator
Handles assessments, caregiver matching, and family communication. Fifteen years of scheduling experience across Dougherty, Lee, and Worth counties.
Quality Assurance Guarantee
How we protect the person in the chair
Rigorous caregiver vetting
National and Georgia criminal background checks, motor vehicle records, drug screening, license verification, and a minimum of two verified professional references before a first shift.
Ongoing paid training
Annual training hours in personal care technique, transfers and fall prevention, infection control, dementia communication, and emergency response — all paid.
Family communication standards
Documented shift notes, a named coordinator you can reach directly, scheduled progress calls, and same-day notification of any change in condition.
Supervisory quality checks
In-home supervisory visits during the first two weeks of service and on a recurring schedule thereafter, with care plans updated as needs change.
